This time Poornodaya Vidyanikethan celebrated the children’s day (November 14th ) with an even richer ambience than the previous year. A chance visitor to the school on the day would have found a simple but beautifully set up ambience. What’s more?… As is usual at Poornodaya, the decorations were not just simple & beautiful but profoundly meaningful. The drawings and crafts made by children were hung on natural woolen twains. Ms. Zoe Bader (our German Volunteer) added to the aura by adding to it her own pieces of adorable artwork. All the mentors joined hands in arranging the decorations while anticipating the arrival of their tiny pupils at 10 am. When the little ones arrived all dressed up, on the school van, the scene changed from being pleasant to one of surprise, fun and frolic.
The party began after the routine school assembly followed by a very short presentation by Mentor Mr.Manu on children’s day and “Chacha” Nehru. Handcrafted paper roses were pinned on the dresses of all children to commemorate Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. What soon followed was a gala time for children with fun games and music. The mentors would demonstrate the games first and then the children would follow when their turn would come. Exhausted after the games, the children had a refreshing snack-time with homecooked items packed for them by their parents. The party ended with a joyful dance by the children along with their mentors.
